Instructions

    • 1

Download the tracks you want to have on your CD. Look specifically for tracks labeled "karaoke version" or "instrumental version." These can be found both on specialty sites and on major MP3 downloading hubs such as iTunes or Amazon.

    • 2

Drag the tracks into the order you'd like them to play back in your CD burning program. If you're using iTunes or a similar program that automatically burns CDs, you can simply create a playlist, which will burn onto the CD. Be sure to limit your playlist to 600 megabytes or smaller, so it'll properly fit on the CD. You can fit anywhere between 15 and 20 songs on a blank CD, so be creative.

Select the "Burn" or "Create CD" option under "File" in your MP3 playback software. When it opens the menu, check the box marked "Audio CD" so that your disc will burn properly. Check the settings to make sure everything is how you want it, and then click "Burn." The CD will burn while you wait; this generally takes between 10 and 30 minutes.

Put the CD in a few different CD players to test it. Listen to the first few seconds of each track to ensure the CD is playing back properly. Then get ready to sing!

Tips & Warnings

  • Always check more than one site: there is no one complete library of karaoke instrumentals.

  • Remember this is for CD players and will not give you the lyrics.

  • Be sure only to download tracks that don't have digital rights management so you can burn as many CDs as you want.

  • Never download tracks from a torrent or other unauthorized source; it puts your computer at risk for viruses.
