How to Fix the Picture Quality on a Dell Computer

How to Fix the Picture Quality on a Dell Computer thumbnail
Video quality can be affected by several issues.

Dell computers are popular and have been around for many years. Dell, however, is not significantly different from many other computers when it comes to most things, including troubleshooting. One of the few differences is that the case design for most Dell computers makes it easier to access the internal hardware. Picture quality, for the most part, is something you can adjust through software, but may require some hardware adjustments.

Instructions

    • 1

Change "Graphic Properties" in Windows. This is where most of your picture quality is determined. Right-click on your computer desktop and choose "Properties" or "Graphic properties." Next choose "Display Settings." Change the resolution to the highest resolution you can change it to. This will make icons, programs and web pages smaller, but will increase the quality. You can pick a setting in between the lowest and highest for the best fit. You can also change the color quality. Change the quality to the highest bit level; this may require changing the resolution to a higher level.

Adjust the monitors button. Most Dell monitors have a button on them where you can click the button and scroll through several options such as color level, tint and the alignment of the display. When you click the button, there will either be several buttons alongside of the first button to change and scroll through the options and make changes, or you will click the sides of the button to make changes.

Check the video card. If the video card is loose it may cause quality problems. Open the Dell computer case and find the video card at the back of the computer. Unscrew the video card, pull out the card and reinsert the card. Make sure the card is all the way in and then screw it in place.
