How to Install Java for Internet Explorer 7 With Windows XP

Java is the name for a group of proprietary software developed by Sun Microsystems. The software smooths the display and functionality of some Web applications. Without Java, some Web applications will not display properly and users may receive an error message informing them that Java needs to be installed or updated in order to view the page element properly. Java is usually embedded, or available for download, with Web browsers like Internet Explorer 7. It works with platforms ranging from Microsoft Windows to Linux and Solaris.

Instructions

1. Go to Java.com.

2. Select "Downloads" from the top of the Web page.

3. Click on the link, "see all Java downloads here."

4. Locate the download that is compatible with Windows XP.

5. Click on the "Windows 7/XP/Vista/2000/2003/2008 Online" download link to begin installation.

6. Click "Run" when prompted in the installation dialog box.

7. Click on the "Install" button to accept the license agreement and continue with the installation. Select the "Close" button when the dialog box has informed you that the installation is complete.
