How to Connect My PC to My Digital TV
If you own a PC and a digital television, you may want to connect your PC to the TV in order to view content on a larger screen. In 2009, digital televisions replaced analog TVs in the United States. Even if you own an older PC that only has a VGA video connection, you can still connect your PC to your digital television by using a VGA adapter cable.

1
Plug one end of the video cable into your PC's video output port. Use an HDMI cable if both your digital TV and your PC have HDMI ports. Use a VGA to RCA cable if your PC or TV doesn't have an HDMI port.
-
2
Plug the opposite end of the video cable into your TV. These ports are usually located on the sides or back of the TV. The RCA video port, which should be used if you are using the VGA to RCA cable, is small, round and yellow in color. It will be labeled "Composite Video". If you used an HDMI cable, the HDMI port is a semi-rectangular port that will be labeled "HDMI." The HDMI port is larger than than the RCA video port.

Insert the 3.5 mm end of the 3.5 mm to RCA audio cable into your PC's headphone jack. Then connect the opposite end of the audio cable into the audio input ports on your television. The audio input ports are located near the video input port. These are two ports that are small, round and red and white in color. Skip this step if you've used an HDMI cable since HDMI cables carry both a video and audio signal.

4
Press the "Input" or "Source" button on your TV's remote control to change the input source. Press this button until you've reached the input source that you plugged your PC into.

5
Open the display settings on your PC. Click "Start," "Control Panel," "Appearance and Personalization" and "Adjust Screen Resolution." Increase the resolution so that the image on your PC displays properly on your TV. Choose the highest resolution possible.
