How to Pay Virginia Court Fines Online
Virgina's General District Court offers an online payment option for those who need to pay traffic tickets and other fines. Payments must be made up until 3:30 p.m. on the last business day before your court date. Making a pre-court payment will cancel your hearing and will automatically enter you into a guilty plea. Post-court payments must be paid within 15 days following your court date or according to the payment agreement that was set up between the court and you.

Log onto Virginia's General District Court Case Information system. Read the disclaimer about using this system and type the characters shown in the image box at the bottom of the page. Click enter.

Select the court from the drop down menu by clicking the arrow. Please note, the court you choose must say "Pay Online" next to it in order take advantage of the pay online option.

Enter your last name, first name and middle name into the search terms box and click the "Search" button. You can use optional search criteria to narrow your results by entering your case number, hearing date and case type.

Scroll down to find your case(s). Look for the "Mark for Payment" phrase under the "Pay" column to ensure your cases are eligible for online payment.

Click "Mark for payment" to select the case(s) to be paid. Click the "Process Payment" button located at the bottom of the screen. You can pay a maximum of five cases at one time.

Confirm that you have selected only your cases, and click the "Continue Payment Process" button. Enter your credit card and contact information. All fields but the email address are required. Select the "Submit Payment" button located at the bottom of the screen.

Print a copy of the screen to confirm your payment. Select the "Print Screen" button on the keyboard to copy your screen and paste it into a word document to print. If you provided an email address, you will also receive a confirmation message for payment(s) made.

Tips & Warnings
There is a $1.50 convenience fee charged per case for each payment made online.
