How To Uninstall LimeWire from Your Computer

LimeWire is one of the most popular file-sharing programs out there. It enables you to search for and download content from other users connected to the Gnutella network. However, if you are no longer interested in using LimeWire, you can uninstall it from your computer and free up system resources such as hard drive space and memory. LimeWire uninstalls quickly and easily.

      Click the "File" menu in LimeWire, and click "Exit" to close the program if you are currently using it. If LimeWire does not close, launch the Task Manager by pressing "Ctrl," "Alt" and "Delete" together. Click the "Processes" tab, click "limewire.exe" and then click "End Process" to terminate the program.

      Click the Windows "Start" button, click "Control Panel" and double-click "Add or Remove Programs" to launch the programs window if you are using Windows XP. If you are using Windows Vista or 7, click "Programs" and then click "Programs and Features" to launch the programs window.

      Locate the version of LimeWire that you are using from the list of installed programs and click "Remove/Uninstall" to launch the uninstall wizard. Click "Next" and click "Uninstall." The uninstall wizard removes LimeWire from your computer. When the process completes, click "Finish" to complete the uninstall.

      Remove the LimeWire set-up folder. To do so, double-click "My Computer" on the desktop if you are using Windows XP, or "Computer" if you are using Windows 7 or Vista.

      Double-click the "C:" drive and then double-click the "Program Files" folder. Scroll through the folder, locate the LimeWire folder, right-click it and then click "Delete."
