How to Make a Montage on YouTube

How to Make a Montage on YouTube thumbnail
Create a montage photo video using Windows Photo Story.

Collect your favorite photos into a YouTube montage video complete with background music using Windows Photo Story. This software, suitable for many Windows operating systems including Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7, enables you to add photos from your computer's hard drive, rearrange them in any order and orientation and add background music. Note that uploading a montage using photographs and music you do not own violates YouTube's Terms of Service agreement, whereby YouTube reserves the right to remove the video from your account.

Instructions

    • 1

Import photos from the hard drive into Windows Photo Story using the "Import Pictures" button.

    • 2

Edit the imported photos using the editing tools below the picture slide preview. These allow you to adjust color, remove red eye, crop, rotate and add color effects.

    • 3

Rearrange photos in the desired order by dragging and dropping them into place in the photo timeline, located under the picture slide preview.

    • 4

Title your pictures with descriptive names or funny captions in the "Add Title" section. You can change font, color and alignment using the text editing buttons.

    • 5

Add motion and transitions to fade in and out of each photo as it progresses through the video. Select the "Customize Motion" button under the "Narrate Pictures and Customize Motion" category to select different transitions and motion types.

    • 6

Select background music for your montage using the "Select Music" and "Create Music" buttons. For songs already on your computer, choose the "Select Music" button. To add classical, pop, rock, cultural and orchestral background tunes, select the "Create Music" button and select from the Genre, Style, Bands and Moods categories and click "OK" to save your changes.

    • 7

Save your project for playback on your computer. Windows Photo Story renders the video in WMV format (Windows Media Video), which is compatible with YouTube upload standards.

    • 8

Upload the video to YouTube using the YouTube uploader. You must have a YouTube account to upload videos.
