How to Build a Good Zoo Tycoon 2 Exhibit
For anyone who has ever wanted to run a zoo--be it a replica of San Diego Zoo, or dreams of making a successful version of Jurassic Park--the Zoo Tycoon game series was born. In the second installation, as in the first, the main source of income is the visitors who come to see your animal exhibits. Income is important for building the next great exhibit. For anyone trying to build a good Zoo Tycoon 2 exhibit, there are a few places to start for an advantage.

Start the Zoo Tycoon 2 software and begin or continue a game. Open your zoo and scroll to an empty area of the park.

Look at the Guest tab to determine the kinds of animals your guests are interested in seeing. Then look at the information on that animal to determine the kind of size and space requirements the creature has. Putting a large animal in a small pen will make it unhappy, and thus make your guests less willing to donate.

Build an appropriately sized pen, based on the animal's information.

Build a path connecting this exhibit to the main path. The path will work best if it goes along at least one full side of the exhibit. The best size for paths is between three and six tiles wide--too narrow, and it will impede foot traffic; too wide, and it's a waste of space.

Place the animals in the pen. Make sure you have at least one male and one female of the species, as this gives them a playmate and gives you the chance of having a baby animal born.

Build a zookeeper entrance. Make sure this entrance is not near the main path, but built in such a way that the zookeepers are forced to do their jobs instead of wandering along the main paths.

Pay attention to the animal's icons, so you know what they want and need. Make sure they're getting the food and entertainment that they need to be happy. Happy animals make happy visitors.

Place a donation box near the exhibit. If you have two exhibits on either side of this path, make sure the box is in the middle, so passers-by will donate for both exhibits. Donation boxes are a key piece of making money to keep your zoo running.

Build educator podiums near your animals and hire an educator. This will make the animals more interesting, also increasing your donations.

Tips & Warnings
Keep an eye out for zookeeper recommendations. The recommendations of the zookeepers are the best way to keep your animals happy and alive.
Occasionally, take the strain off of the zookeepers by entering Zoo Guest mode and going in to groom and feed some of the animals.

i use 3 squares wide paths to easily place archways over them and put small deco or stalls in the middle .

I've used paths two tiles wide and they work just fine. Plus, If the exhibit is big and/or filled with lots of trees, but binoculars thingies near the exhibit.
