How to Wire a DVC Sub
Dual voice coil subwoofers offer great flexibility, providing the ability to wire for multiple configurations. Since DVC drivers come with two sets of wire terminals, wiring for a parallel or series system is simple. For basic applications with a single driver, wiring for the stated impedance--or socket load--is quite easy.
Things You'll Need
- 6 feet of speaker wire
- Klein tool
- Screwdriver (Phillips, flat-head or Allen)
Instructions
-
Simple Wiring
-
1
Strip 1/4 inch of wire insulation from the speaker wire using the Klein tool, on both the amplifier and subwoofer ends.
-
2
Connect stripped wire to the amplifier's left positive and right negative terminals (bridged mode), using the appropriate screwdriver.
-
-
3
Flip over the subwoofer driver. Connect stripped wires to outer set of positive and negative terminals on subwoofer to amplifier.
-
4
Cut and strip a 6-inch length of speaker wire using the Klein tool. Connect this wire to the inner set of speaker terminals on the subwoofer. This connection does not lead directly back to the amplifier.

Wiring is the same, regardless of whether the subwoofer is rated for 2- or 4-ohm impedance.
