How to Install a GoDaddy SSL Certificate On Line

An SSL certificate is used to provide a secure means for customers to conduct transactions with your business or website on line through the use of the secure socket layer (SSL) communications protocol. By enabling SSL transactions with a SSL certificate, you will be able to provide up to 256-bit encryption that allows customers to provide personal banking and other information to your company while making purchases. After purchasing the SSL certificate from GoDaddy, you will need to install it on your web server to enable the security features provided by the SSL protocol.

  Log on to your web server's control panel. These steps are based on the Plesk 9.x control panel but are similar for other server controls.

  Choose the "Domains" menu option. Select the domain name that GoDaddy issued you the certificate for, if you have multiple domains on the server.

  Pick the "Certificates" menu option and use the web server file chooser to find the SSL certificate on the portable drive or disk that the certificate is stored followed by the "Send File" menu button that will install the certificate and associated private key.

  Choose the certificate name on the subsequent display menu and select the text. Depress the "CTRL + C" keyboard keys and single-left-click in the dialog box labeled "CA Certificate."

  Paste the certificate contents into the "CA Certificate" dialog box by press the "CTRL + V" keys followed by the "Send" menu button.

  Select the "Up Level" menu button twice and toggle the "SSL Certificate" field to select the SSL certificate that you have uploaded from GoDaddy, followed by the "Home" menu button.

  Choose the "Service Management" menu option. From the subsequent menu, start and stop Apache if that is your web server type. If using a Windows server, choose the option to start and stop the "DNS" service to complete installation of the GoDaddy SSL certificate on line.
