How to Make a Tutu Without the Bodice
Every girl deserves to have a tutu in her closet. You can make a simple tutu with an adjustable waistband without any sewing skills. Make a tutu without the bodice, and the little girl in your life will enjoy playing dress-up for days on end. Make one of your own, and you can enjoy playing with her. The tutu can be in one solid color or two to three colors for a rainbow effect.

1
Cut a length of one-inch ribbon that is six yards long. Coat the cut ends with clear nail polish to avoid fraying, and let dry.
-
2
Cut six yards of tulle fabric into strips that are each six inches wide and twice as long as you want your tutu to be.

-
3
Take one strip of tulle and fold it in half, placing the loop behind the ribbon. Pull the ends of the tulle up through the loop and pull to tighten, but not too tightly. It should fit without slipping but shouldn't tightly pinch the ribbon.
-
4
Continue folding, pulling ends of tulle through loops and tightening, working evenly from the center point in the ribbon. If you're using more than one color of tulle, alternate between colors as you tie.
-
5
Fit the finished tutu around the child's waist and tie the ribbon into a bow. Position the bow in the back, front or side to add a decorative flair to your tutu. Because of the ribbon tie, the tutu will be adjustable for a few different sizes.
