How to Connect a CD Player to Speakers
A CD player can be connected to speakers whether the player is for use with a component stereo system or it is a portable model. Since a CD player does not contain an amplifier to drive the volume, a set of self-powered speakers must be used. Computer desktop speakers are a good choice for this type of connection. Some CD players may require a Y-adapter to convert the 1/4-inch audio jacks into a 3.5mm mini-jack for use with external speakers. You can purchase a Y-adapter at electronics and music stores.
