Baked on dough becomes harder and more difficult to remove from bread machines when it is left on between uses. Splattered bits of dough can get baked onto the surface of the bread pan, paddle and lid on the interior of a bread maker and make it difficult for cooked loaves to be removed. The burnt on hardened pieces of bread dough cannot be removed from a bread machine with a simple damp-cloth wipe down. Does this Spark an idea?

  • Sink
  • Concentrated liquid dish soap
  • Nonabrasive sponge
  • Kitchen towel

Instructions

    • 1

      Unplug and disassemble the bread maker according to the manufacturer's instructions.

      Soak the removable bread maker components that have hardened dough on their surfaces in a sink full of hot soapy water for at least 20 minutes.

      Use your thumbnail to scratch off tiny pieces of hard dough from the exterior of the machine and the underside of the lid.

      Drain the sink and use a nonabrasive sponge to wipe away any residual stuck-on flour from the bread-maker parts.

      Rinse the bread pan and other parts thoroughly under hot running water and dry them with a clean kitchen towel.

      Wipe down the exterior of the bread machine and underside of the lid with the damp kitchen towel that you used to dry the components.

      Reassemble the bread maker according to the manufacturer's directions.

Tips & Warnings

  • Wipe down the interior of the bread maker with a clean damp cloth after each use while the parts are still warm. This will prevent the buildup of burnt-on pieces of dough.
