Download Java 1.6 from the Sun Java website.

Java is an object-oriented programming language developed by Sun. It allows programmers to compile applications into packages known as class files. These files can be run on any computer, regardless of operating system, as long as the the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) software is installed on the machine. Point your browser to Sun's Java website to download version 1.6 of the JRE to your computer.

Instructions

      Open your Web browser and point it to the Sun product archive. (See Resources.)

      Click the drop-down menu next to the "JDK/JRE - 6" label, select the specific Java 1.6 update you want to download, then click "Go."

      Click the "Download JRE" link.

      Select your platform from the drop-down menu, check the box confirming your agreement with the license agreement, then click "Continue."

      Locate the file labeled "Offline Installation." Click the corresponding link and save the installer file to your computer when prompted.
