How to Create School Newsletters

How to Create School Newsletters thumbnail
Newsletters are important to promote your school.

An effective school newsletter must contain interesting and student-created articles about your campus. Parents and community members can look to your school newsletter and gain insight as to the school's inner-workings. Interested parties can also be kept up-to-date about events happening with your students and faculty.

  1. Creating the Newsletter

    • 1

Assign student groups to different story topics on campus. Ask the students to interview individuals and to include schedules for current events within the rough drafts of their stories. Review each of the stories and edit spelling and grammar mistakes.

    • 2

Have your students email you their completed stories. Open your Microsoft Office Word program and create a new "newsletter" project. Copy and paste the edited articles within the spaces provided in the project. Change font sizes and edit stories for length if they are too large or small to fit in the spaces provided.

    • 3

Assign students to take digital photos related to their stories. Review each of the pictures taken by the groups and upload photos of the teachers to your computer. Insert pictures into your newsletter project and resize them to fit with the slots provided. Click "Insert" from the top menu of your newsletter document and scroll down to the picture/image option to add a photo. Select "From File" in the opened menu. Click this option and select a folder that contains the pictures you wish to add to your newsletter. Choose the specific photo from the folder and then click "Add." Resize your image by clicking and dragging the corners of the added image to fit into the desired space. Check your newsletter one last time after you have added the pictures and titles for errors. Print your newsletter and make copies to send out.
