How to Make a Rockabilly Hair Bow
Rockabilly is a really fun style that combines a spunky attitude with Old Hollywood glamour, channeling Bettie Page and other pin-up icons. Making your own rockabilly-style hair bows is super inexpensive and allows you to create completely original hair accessories. Collect small embellishments to add to your bows, such as small jewels and metal skulls, to add the pizazz that will give them true rockabilly style.
Things You'll Need

1
Select a suitably patterned ribbon at your favorite craft store. Make sure the ribbon is at least a 1/2-inch thick and features a real rockabilly-style pattern, such as polka dots, stripes or cherries. Use scissors to cut a 12-inch strip of the ribbon.
-
2
Tie the patterned ribbon into a bow. You can either tie an actual standard bow or secure numerous loops into a bow shape. Glue the ribbon at the center into its bow formation. If necessary, use tweezers to clamp the ribbon while it dries.

Snip away any excess ribbon from the ends of the bow. Use a plain, solid-colored ribbon that complements the patterned ribbon to create a smaller bow. Hot-glue the smaller solid-colored bow over the patterned bow. Cut away any excess ribbon at the ends of the solid bow and allow it to dry completely.

Hot-glue a small embellishment, such as a jewel, over the middle of the bow. Add a dot of glue to a plain hair clip and press the bow onto the glue, again using tweezers if necessary. Allow this to dry, then use scissors to snip away any strands of hot glue that might be hanging from the bow.
