How to Unlock My Sprint Palm Phone

Sprint PCS uses code division multiple access technology (CDMA) for its mobile network. That means that if you want to leave the company and take your Palm phone with you, you have to find another CDMA network to take it to. There are several CDMA mobile providers from which to choose, but you must flash the Palm phone with the new network's programming and then activate it to the new network. Many CDMA mobile providers offer this service when you switch over to their company.

Instructions

    • 1

Log in to MySprint from your computer's Internet browser. Go to "My Online Tools" and then click "Open Sprint Mobile Sync" in the menu that appears. Open the export contacts feature. Choose a safe place in your computer's files to which to save the backup file.

    • 2

Go to the website for your new CDMA network. Use the store locator feature to find a local store near you. Go into the store and explain that you have a Sprint PCS Palm phone and need to have it flashed and activated to the store's mobile network. Pay any fees associated with these services.

    • 3

Log in to your new CDMA mobile provider's website from your computer. Access the provider's mobile backup system. Open the import contacts feature and follow the screen prompts to upload the backup file you created and saved in Step 1.

    • 4

Download your new CDMA mobile provider's mobile backup program to your Palm phone. Open the program and follow the screen prompts to download the contacts you uploaded to the system in Step 3.

    • 5

Contact Sprint PCS to cancel your service. Pay any fees you may have incurred from past due billing or cancellation fees.

Tips & Warnings

  • Do your research on your new CDMA mobile provider. Not all Palm phones are compatible with all networks. Also, some features may not work on your Palm phone after the flash and activation process. Contact your new mobile provider for more specific information.

  • Not all CDMA mobile companies provide handset flashing to new customers. If your new CDMA mobile company doesn't offer flashing services, it often has the name of a local mobile retailer that will do it for you. If all else fails, you can contact an online retailer that will sell you the program and instructions so you can do it yourself (see the Resources section of this article). Pricing may vary.
