Instructions for Making Wine Charms
Keeping track of your wine glass at parties and events can be difficult at best. Wine charms serve as simple solution to this dilemma. These small, decorative rings fasten around the stem of the wine glass. Each one in the set is slightly different, using either different colors or charms, so the guest can easily discern which glass is theirs with a quick glance. The wine charms can be as simple as a ring of colored beads, or they can be more elaborate and even include charms with the initials of each guest on them.
Instructions

1
Cut 3.5 inch lengths of silver or gold craft wire with a pair of wire snips. Craft wire is readily available at most craft stores.
-
2
Wrap the wire around a 1 inch diameter dowel to bend into a circle. Substitute a fat marker or something of similar thickness for the dowel, if desired.
-
-
3
Grasp the wire, ¼ inch from the end, with a pair of needle-nose pliers. Bend the end back to form a hook.
-
4
Thread your beads or charms onto the wire from the unhooked side. Leave at least half of the wire circle bare so it easily bends around the stems of the glasses.
-
5
Bend back ¼ inch on the other side of the wire to form the second hook, which also holds the beads in place. Slip the wine charm ring around the stem of a glass, and then hook the two ends together to secure.

Tips & Warnings
Many craft store sell preformed wine charm rings. This saves you time from cutting and bending them into shape.
Look in a scrapbooking store for little plastic tags. Use these on the charms and write a short message or the guest's name on the tag.
The ends of cut wire can be sharp. If you are concerned about the wires on your charms, sand them with a metal file to smooth them out before use.
