Instructions

    • 1

Position two of the two-by-two boards 16 inches apart, laying them flat on a steady surface.

    • 2

Cut two 16-inch pieces of two-by-six, and place them on top of the two-by-two boards. Flush the ends and square the sides of the two-by-two boards with the end of the two-by-six. Nail the two boards together with 2½-inch nails. This will be the base of the firewood rack.

    • 3

Cut the remaining two-by-two boards into five 16-inch pieces. Measure 16 inches from the two-by-six on the base, place a two-by-two board every 16 inches, and secure them to the base with two ½-inch nails. These are the cross braces for the bottom of the firewood rack.

    • 4

Cut the two two-by-four boards into four-foot boards, leaving four boards that are 4 feet long. Cut two 16-inch by 48-inch pieces from the sheet of plywood. These are for the right and left sides of the firewood rack.

    • 5

Lay the two-by-four boards on their sides, 16 inches apart. Square the piece of 16-inch by 48-inch plywood on top of the two-by-four. Flush the sides of the plywood and the two-by-four. Screw the plywood to the two-by-four using 1 ½-inch screws. Repeat for the remaining two-by-four board and plywood.

    • 6

Stand the right side panel up, with the plywood facing the inside of the rack. Position the bottom of the right panel with the right side of the bottom base. Attach using 3-inch wood screws. Place the screws 4 inches apart. Repeat this process for the left side.

    • 7

Cut four 1-foot by 1-foot pieces of plywood from the remaining wood. Cut the four pieces at a 45-degree angle, and flush them on all four bottom corners of the firewood rack. Secure them using 1½-inch screws; use plenty of screws to secure the corner braces.
