The lure of a private, exotic getaway to a place in which you have propriety has enticed many people into purchasing timeshares. The fantasy of luxurious vacationing becomes a miserable burden when time comes to sell the same timeshare that once brought so much joy. The reality faced by many of these owners is that while most timeshare properties do not sell for more than $1,500 to $4,500, listing fees to sell the property can cost them between $800 to $3,000. While waiting for the property to sell, the owners also lose money in property tax and maintenance fee expenditures. Due to these costs, donating a timeshare can prove profitable in terms of a sizable tax deduction. Donate For A Cause allows for timeshares to be donated easily to various charities online by following the steps outlined below.

• Number of bathrooms
• Which fixed week it can be used, if applicable
• What season it can be used, if applicable
• Number of account points, if applicable
• Lien or mortgage balance, if applicable
• Status of maintenance fees
• Next date property may be used

Instructions

1. Donate For A Cause is a non-profit organization that specializes in converted timeshares into revenue for charities. Begin the process at www.donateforacause.org.

2. Scroll to the bottom of the home page and click on the blue underlined letters, "Start Your Timeshare Donation Now" to open the one-page Donation Request form. This is the only form that will need to be completed.

3. Fill in your name, address, phone numbers and email address under the Submission Information Header.

4. Fill in Resort Name and optional property details.

5. Choose from a drop-down list of available charities to which to donate.

6. Choose a donation option. The first option is a no-cost donation conditional upon sale of the timeshare within four months of donation. The second option is to agree to pay a $1,299 program donation fee which guarantees title transfer of the timeshare from the donor within eight weeks of donation.

7. Choose a referrer from a drop down list under the "How Did You Hear About Us?" header.

8. Add comments, if any, and click the Submit Request button.

9. Check your email within 2-3 business days of submitting the Donation Request form. If your timeshare is acceptable, you will be asked to provide additional documentation as listed above to begin the verification of your resort ownership. Once verified, your timeshare will be sold, liquidated, and title of ownership will be processed.

Tips & Warnings

• If you have not received an email within 2-3 business days of submitting the Donation Request form, you may call the organization toll free at 877-822-2873.

• Excluding the times it takes for a county to record a new deed, the donation process takes approximately 120 days.

• Any title transfer fees in excess of $200 is the responsibility of the donor.

• Donate For A Cause does not accept donations from Alpenland Resorts, Club Land'Or, Missiones del Cabo, Shanty Creek, Silver Lakes or Tara Nova Resorts.
