How to Access XP Data Registry
The registry on a Windows XP computer is a large database that stores system and application configuration information. As a result, altering the files in it can cause damage to how applications operate. It takes about a minute to view your data registry.

Close all applications and programs.

Hit the "Start" button in the lower left corner of your desktop.

Scroll up and hit "Run." Type "regedit.exe" and hit your "enter" key on your keyboard.
