How to Transport Rental Cars
Rental car transport, whether you need to ship one car or 100 cars, may not be as difficult as you imagine. A big challenge is selecting a truck rental company or car transport firm you can trust to get your vehicles to their destination. Another concern is time. It can take up to three weeks for cars to reach their destination. Make your transport arrangements as far in advance as possible.

How to ship rental cars
-
1
Decide how many cars you will ship. This will help determine which car carrier you will employ to ship the rental cars.
-
2
Investigate do-it-yourself methods. National truck rental companies, such as Penske, rent trucks and car carriers to individuals and companies. You can use Penske if only one rental car needs to be shipped and if you have someone who can drive the truck. Go to pensketruckrental.com for details.

Hire a car transport company: If you don't want to drive the car yourself, or if you have multiple cars, your best option is a car transport company, such as National Transport LLC (nationaltransportllc.com). It is a full-service company that can ship cars anywhere. Other companies, like American Auto Shipping (americanautoshipping.com) provide similar services.

4
Choose shipping times and prices: Faster shipping is more expensive, but 1- to 3-day shipping is available. Standard shipping will take 1 to 3 weeks. Pricing varies widely depending on how many vehicles you ship, whether you'd like them to be enclosed during shipping (this will add to your total cost) and whether you want trip insurance.

Arrange a pick-up time and prepare for pick-up. For rental car accounts, it will be better to speak to an agent from the car shipping company rather than arranging for pickup over the Internet. You must arrange a pick-up location. That probably would be the rental car lot, but in case the lot is too full to accommodate the truck, suggest alternative locations. And you have to set a date and time for pick-up. To prepare for pick-up, remove any company or personal belongings from the cars. Take photos of the cars and note any damages so that whoever receives the cars will know exactly what condition they were in when shipped.
