How Do You Play Four Ball Golf?
Golf is usually played as an individual event with players recording their own score. However, four-ball golf allows partners to compete together against another team of two partners. Four-ball matches can be played among friends and in local tournaments, and are part of the Ryder Cup tournament. When you play four-ball golf, only the better score counts. You can play four-ball golf as either a match play or stroke-play format.

Match Play
-
1
Have each player tee off and play the first hole as the he normally would while playing golf. After the tee shot, the farthest ball from the hole plays first. However, if both partners would shoot in order, partners may play the balls in whatever order they chose. For example, if player 1 and player 2 of team A would shoot first and second, they may switch the order if they choose.
-
2
Select the lower score from each team to be counted. For example, if player 1 of team A shoots a 6 and player 2 of team A shoots a 4, a score of 4 would be counted for the team.
-
-
3
Compare the lower score from team A to the lower score of team B and give the lowest score a point for winning the hole. For example, if team A's lowest score was 4 and team B's lowest score was 5, team A would win the hole. If both team's lowest score is the same, the hole is split 1/2 and 1/2.
-
4
Repeat first first three steps for each hole that is played then compare the number of holes won to determine the winner. For example, if team A wins 10 1/2 holes and team B wins 7 1/2 holes, team A would be the winner.

Have each player tee off and play the first hole as the he normally would while playing golf. After the tee shot, the farthest ball from the hole plays first. For example, if player 1 and player 2 of team A would shoot first and second, they may switch the order if they choose.
-
6
Select the lower score from each team to be counted. For example, if player 1 of team A shoots a 6 and player 2 of team A shoots a 4, a score of 4 would be counted for the team.
-
7
Repeat the first two steps for each hole, recording the team's lowest score on the hole.
-
8
Total the shots per hole for each team after finishing the round of golf. The team with the lowest score wins. For example, if team A had a total of 78 shots and team B had a total of 75 shots, team B would win.
