How to Cancel an AOL Email Address

Cancel your extra AOL email addresses.

When you sign up for an AOL account, you are assigned a "Master Screen Name" (username). That screen name is then used as your primary email address. With the master screen name you can add up to six more usernames and email addresses. Once the AOL email addresses have been created, you can remove them at will. All you have to do is follow the protocol that has been established by AOL to delete usernames/email addresses. The exact protocol will vary depending on which AOL username/email address you would like to delete.

Instructions

Master Screen Name

1. Contact AOL Support at [phone]. Say "Cancellations" at the prompt. You will also be asked for your telephone number and master screen name. Wait for the customer care representative to answer the line.

2. Advise the customer care representative that you would like to cancel the AOL username/email address for your master screen name.

3. Provide the customer care representative with information, such as your name, contact information and master screen name. Verify security questions such as your date of birth, address and your account security question.

4. Wait for the customer care representative to confirm that your account has been canceled. Ask the customer care representative for a confirmation number, just in case you need to reference the call in the future.

Secondary Screen Names

1. Visit the AOL "Manage My Account" page. A link to this page is located in the "References" section of this article.

2. Enter your AOL master screen name in the "Username or Email" box. Enter the password for your master screen name in the "Password" box. Click "Sign In."

3. Click the "Manage Screen Names" link that is located in the "Screen Names" section. An "Additional Screen Names" box will now be displayed.

4. Click the red "X" that is located beside the AOL username/email address you would like to delete. Click the "Delete" button to confirm your desires to delete the account.
