How to Make a Baseball Schedule

When creating a baseball league schedule, it's vital to have multiple-game matchups.

For a baseball schedule to be true to the game and the sport, teams must have an equal opportunity to match up against all opponents for a series at a time. Football and basketball schedules can be broken up into single-game formats due to the nature of each sport, but with baseball's unique intricacies and roster sizes, two- and three-game sets are vital to creating an effective baseball schedule and league.

Instructions

  1. Creating the Schedule

    • 1

Write down the list of team names in your baseball league. Note the number of total games you want each team to play over the duration of the season. Assign each team a specific team number. Match up each team on the list versus another team on the list. Choose one of each pair to be the home team for each of your individual series.

    • 2

Refer to your total number of games possible for each team and determine the amount of games to be played for this initial series between each pair of teams. Select different pairings for each group of teams while making sure one team does not play at home or on the road more than two series in a row until you have run out of unique match-ups.

    • 3

Duplicate your first schedule while swapping the home and away denotations until you have created a second mirrored list of games. Add up the total number of games for each team and note the amount of games played against each opponent to make sure the numbers are the same for each team. Transfer your schedule to a workable and presentable format to present to the members of your league.
