Instructions

    • 1

Mix two aspirin and water together in a small bowl until both aspirin are completely dissolved. Place the aspirin and water mixture next to the sweat-stained cap, and grab your toothbrush and two tsp. of Woolite.

    • 2

Cover the entire stain with a thin layer of Woolite using a toothbrush to brush it on gently. Do not scrub the Woolite into the fabric at first. Just spread the liquid around the edge of the cap where it is stained, and let it sit for three minutes to soak into the stained fibers.

    • 3

Rub the remaining Woolite into the already pre-treated stain. Move the toothbrush over the fabric in circular patterns, gently applying pressure. The Woolite will become milky looking as you work it into the stain. Pre-treat the entire stain with Woolite once, and let it stand for 15 minutes.

    • 4

Stir the aspirin and water mixture for three seconds before slowly pouring the solution around the outside and the inside edge of the cap where it is stained with sweat. If you run out of the mix before treating the entire stain with aspirin, make extra solution by adding one aspirin per cup until you have treated the entire stain.

Wash the cap by hand or by machine. Rinse well in between each washing cycle with cold, clean water. Use regular laundry detergent, and air dry the cap for at least 24 hours.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you choose not to put your baseball cap through the washer cycle, you may want to purchase a baseball cap cage. You can then put a baseball cap in your dishwasher on the top rack to wash. Make sure, however, that your dishwasher is not set to a heated dry cycle and you use a baseball cap 'cage.'

  • Read the cap manufacturer's laundering label before attempting to wash. A washing machine can ruin the shape of a baseball cap from the agitators in the machine washer. Drying a cap in a machine dryer can shrink it.
