How to Make a Paper Butterfly Craft
Children enjoy making crafts that are associated with themes, such as animal or the seasons. Celebrate spring time by creating a simple paper butterfly-shaped craft with supplies that are common to the classroom and around the crafty home.
Things You'll Need
- Construction paper
- Butterfly shape
- Scissors
- Crayons or markers
- Pipe cleaner

Select a simple shape with few details. Photocopy a simple butterfly shape onto a piece of construction paper, cut-out the shape with scissors.

Decorate the paper butterfly shape with crayons or markers. Set aside.

Fold the pipe cleaner in half, and slip the paper butterfly in between the fold. Twist the pipe closed at the top of the butterfly, making sure not to rip the construction paper.

Form the antennae by gently directing the pipe cleaner back over the wings and curve around, or by allowing the antennae to stick straight out.

Allow children to play with their new craft.

Tips & Warnings
Select a basic butterfly shape that has few details.
Create more decorated butterflies with stickers or glittered glue.
Create curly antenna by winding the pipe cleaner around a pencil.
Consider cutting out the shapes for young children before hand or allowing them to use safety scissors.
