How to Make an Origami Rose With a Stem
Making and giving an origami rose can be a special thing. You can make a single rose, or create an entire bouquet. Different rose colors have different meanings; yellow stands for friendship, white for purity and red for true love. Make your origami rose in the color that suits your purposes and give it to someone you care about.
Things You'll Need
- One 6 by 6-inch square rose-colored paper
- One 6 by 6-inch square green paper
Instructions
-
The Rose
-
1
Lay your rose paper on the table, color up, so that it looks like a diamond.
-
2
Fold it in half diagonally with the color on the outside, then unfold it.
-
-
3
Take the right corner and fold it in to the center fold. Do the same with the left corner. This forms a kite shape.
-
4
Fold the right corner down into a flap, so that it meets its own fold. Repeat with the left corner.
-
5
Turn the paper over so that the back is facing up and the point is down.
-
6
Fold the bottom point up to the top of the paper.
-
7
Fold the point back down, with the fold starting about a half inch from the previous fold.
-
8
Make a crease in the right and left side of the new fold.
-
9
Fold the sides of the point in to the middle. The top part may open up. If it does, make a squash fold where you creased the paper earlier.
-
10
At the very top, fold down the corner.
-
11
Turn the paper over and set it aside for a moment.
The Stem
-
12
Place a green piece of paper on the table, color side down, in a diamond shape.
-
13
Fold the paper diagonally, with the color on the outside, and unfold it again.
-
14
Fold two opposite halves into the middle fold.
-
15
Fold the other sides in to meet the middle fold. The paper should now look like a long skinny diamond.
-
16
Fold the diamond in half along the original middle fold.
-
17
Fold the diamond in half just past the middle part. It should look like a large "V".
-
18
Put the stem of the flower into the middle of the "V" of the green paper to create your rose.
