Instructions

Determine how many bows you will use to decorate your staircase. Measure your staircase from top to bottom. Decide how many feet apart you wish your bows to be placed and divide your the length of your staircase by that number. For example, if your staircase is 15 feet long and you would like for your bows to be 3 feet apart, you would need five bows with which to decorate.

Cut the wire ribbon to a length of about 3 feet and use it to tie a bow around the banister of the staircase. Leave the remainders of the piece of ribbon hanging down from the bow on each side. Repeat this process until all bows are made.

Use pre-made bows if you do not feel comfortable tying them yourself. Pre-made bows can be bought in a craft store and are relatively inexpensive. If they do not come with materials to attach them to the staircase, you can use double sided craft tape to attach the bows at the distance you have determined along the staircase. This tape should not damage your staircase and will be easy to remove.

Tips & Warnings

  • Wrap long pieces of garland around the staircase banister for an added decorative touch.
