How to Polish Brass With Household Items

Rather than purchasing expensive products to effectively polish the brass in your home, handle the problem with items you already have, which is a less-expensive option. Knowing which ingredients to pull from the cupboards can save time and money in your quest to have brilliantly polished brass.

Things You'll Need

• Flour
• Table salt
• White vinegar
• Clean cloth
• Dry towel

Instructions

1. Mix one tablespoon each of white vinegar, flour and table salt into a bowl until it is a thick paste.

2. Apply the paste to the brass item with a clean cloth; spread it around to cover the entire area that is tarnished.

3. Allow the paste to sit on the brass for three to five minutes or until it completely dries.

4. Rinse the paste away with warm water; use a damp cloth to wipe away the paste from large brass items you can't rinse in the sink.

5. Dry the brass with a clean, dry towel and buff to shine.
