Record and watch video tapes or DVDs when you connect a TV to a DVD/VCR recorder

A VCR and DVD recorder offers two outstanding audio-video components in one piece of equipment. You can play and record either VHS videocassettes on the VCR, or burn and play back DVDs. Connecting this combo unit to a TV requires two sets of composite AV cables. One set sends the signal from the component to the TV for playback; the other cable transmits signals from the TV for recording to videotape or DVD. The cables are color-coded for simplified connections.

Instructions

    • 1

Plug the ends of one set of composite cables into the yellow, white and red "AV OUT" jacks on the back of the VCR & DVD recorder, matching the plugs on the cables to the colors on the jacks.

    • 2

Connect the plugs on the other end to the "AV IN" jacks on the TV back panel.

    • 3

Plug a second set of composite cables from the TV's "AV OUT" jacks to the matching "AV IN" jacks on the back of the VCR & DVD recorder. This connection sends programming signals from the TV to the component for recording either on VHS videotape or a blank DVD.

    • 4

Press and release the "Input" button on the TV several times until the signal from the VCR & DVD recorder appears on the screen.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use the recorder's remote control to select between the VCR and the DVD player/recorder.

  • Unplug the TV and the DVD/VCR recorder from the power while connecting the AV cables.
