How to Make My Pink Laundry White Again
When you open the washing machine to find pink laundry when it used to be white, you may conclude that your laundry is ruined. Accidentally washing light colored laundry with a dark or brightly colored item can transfer the color from the one bright item to the other lighter colored items. This color transfer is color bleeding or dye transfer. Although it can be alarming, it is possible to remove or at least minimize the color transfer and restore your white laundry to its previous white color. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Heavy-duty laundry detergent
- Enzyme soaking product
- Chlorine bleach
- Rit Color Remover
- Large stainless steel pot
- Stove top
- Long wooden spoon
- Rubber gloves

Rewash the pink laundry immediately using a heavy-duty laundry detergent. Wash the clothing in the warmest water appropriate for the clothing. Often immediate rewashing will remove the transferred dyes before they have a chance to adhere fully to the fabric fibers.

Assess the pink laundry after rewashing. Do not dry any items in the dryer that are still pink.

Soak the pink laundry in the enzyme soak. Fill the sink with warm water and add the recommended amount of enzyme soaking solution to the water. Soak the pink laundry for the recommended time and remove them from the water.

Wash the pink laundry again in the washing machine. Assess the laundry again after rewashing.

Soak the pink laundry in 1/4 cup of chlorine bleach for each gallon of cold water if the laundry is color safe. Allow the pink laundry so soak for five minutes and then remove the laundry from the bleach water.

Rewash the pink laundry. Assess the laundry after rewashing.

Fill the large pot with warm water, leaving enough room in the pot for the laundry, if the laundry is still pink. Turn the burner to medium and heat the water to a simmer. Open the color remover package and sprinkle the contents of the packet over the surface of the hot water. Stir the water with the spoon to dissolve the color remover.

Add the wet pink laundry to the hot water and push the laundry beneath the surface of the water with the wooden spoon. Stir the laundry constantly in the water with the wooden spoon for between 10 and 30 minutes. Do not allow the water to boil and do not stop stirring.

Remove the pot from the heat and drain the water after the time elapses. Wear rubber gloves and rinse the laundry with hot water to remove the color remover. Gradually change the water temperature from hot to warm until you remove all traces of color remover.

Rewash the laundry a final time. When all traces of pink are gone from the laundry, it is safe to dry the garments in the dryer.
