How to Color in Photoshop Cs4
There may be occasions when you have a photo or other image that you would like to turn into the colored image. If you have a great deal of artistic skills, you can use standard drawing tools and paper. Or you might choose to hire a professional to do this for you. But if you have access to Photoshop, you do not have to be a highly trained expert. The tools of Adobe Photoshop make it a relatively easy and quick process for the average user to create his own colored drawing based on any image.

Load the image that you want to work with onto your computer, either by copying it from a digital source like a camera or SD card or by scanning it in. If you do use a scanner, set your scanner software to a fairly high resolution (at least 600 DPI).

Open Photoshop. Select "File" from the menu and click "Open." In the dialog box that pops up, browse to the image you loaded and open it.

Go to the "Layers" panel and right click on the background layer. From the options, choose "Duplicate."

With the top layer selected, select "Filter" from the menu, then "Sketch" and click "Chalk & Charcoal." In the dialog that pops up, set the "Charcoal Area" to 6, the "Chalk Area" to 6 and the "Pressure" to 1 (the exact numbers may vary). Click "OK."

Select the bottom layer. Select "Filter," then "Artistic" and click "Cutout." In the dialog that pops up, make the "Levels" 8, the "Simplicity" 0 and the "Fidelity" 3 ( the exact numbers may vary). Then click "OK."

Select the top layer and change the "Blending Mode" at the top of the "Layers" panel to "Overlay." Select "File" and click "Save As." Name your file and save it as a high resolution JPEG.
