How to Make an Online Diary Secret

How to Make an Online Diary Secret thumbnail
Keep your private online diary a secret.

Some people like to keep their journals on the internet to share them with others, and some people simple don't want to keep and handwritten journal but they still want their thoughts to be private. Free online diary or blogging sites will give you the option of setting your whole diary or just certain parts of it to private. That means only you will be able to view it and so will anyone who knows the password or "key" to your online journal.

Instructions

Log on and sign up for an account on a website that will let you keep a private, password protected journal. "Penzu" is a site made exclusively for private online diaries. "Livejournal" allows you to set your whole journal to private in your account settings. On blogging sites such as "Wordpress" you can set just one entry or a whole category of entries to private. Look around on different journaling sites to see which one you like best.

Sign in to your account on the site. Go to your account settings and find where you can change the security settings to your diary. Choose the option for "Private" and save your settings. If you have a blog on "Myspace", click on your blog settings and choose private for your whole blog.

Write your password down somewhere if you don't think you will be able to remember it, or just keep it around until you do know it by heart. Make sure your password is long enough and complicated enough so that someone won't be able to "hack" into your account. Hide the password somewhere safe--its the "key" to your private diary.
