How to Make Chocolate Pear Cake

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar

  • 4 ounces butter
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 1 tablespoon yeast
  • 3 1/4 ripe pears

      Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F and butter your baking dish. Peel your pears. Cut them into medium slices. Place the slices, going from the center to the edges, on the bottom of the baking dish. They should look like a star when you have placed them all. Combine the flour, yeast, ginger and cocoa powder well. In another bowl, mix the butter and sugar until it is smooth

      Blend in your eggs one at a time into the butter cream. Slowly add your flour mixture. Blend it until it is well incorporated. Pour the batter into the baking dish over the pears. Bake for about 30 minutes. Check to see that the cake is cooked by inserting a cake tester. If it comes out clean, it's done. If not, continue baking until finished.

      Turn off the oven. Leave your chocolate pear cake inside with the oven door open for 10 minutes. Sprinkle the top with powdered sugar and serve it slightly warm or cold.
