How to Make Turmeric Rice
Turmeric, a spice with a peppery, warm essence, is used in the making of curry powder. By adding this spice to plain white rice you'll be guaranteed an added kick of flavor and color. Besides being delicious, this herb is known for its many health benefits. It is a natural antibacterial and detoxifier, for example. It's also said to aid in cancer prevention. Things You'll Need
- 2 tbsp. of butter
- 1/2 chopped onion
- 1 garlic clove
- 1 cup of Basmati rice or regular long grain rice
- 1/2 tsp. of turmeric
- 1 1/2 cups of chicken broth
- 1 drop of thyme
- 1 bay leaf
- Saucepan

Melt 1 tbsp. of butter in a saucepan over medium heat.

Add half a chopped onion and one clove of garlic to the saucepan. Allow these ingredients to soften.

Add 1/2 tsp. of turmeric and 1 cup of rice to the saucepan. Make sure to stir the contents thoroughly.

Mix in 1 1/2 cups of chicken broth with the other ingredients. Add one drop of thyme and one bay leaf.

Allow the ingredients to come to a boil. Cover the pan and allow the mixture to simmer for 15 minutes.

Remove the pan from the heat. Add the remaining 1 tbsp. of butter. Sprinkle the rice with salt and pepper and remove the bay leaf. The rice is now ready to serve.

Tips & Warnings
For a stronger flavor, use a full teaspoon of turmeric.
You can also add a dash of chili powder or paprika for more taste.
