How to Clean Stainless Steel Flavorizer Bars
The stainless steel flavorizer bars on your gas or charcoal grill not only serve a valuable purpose by enhancing the flavor of your meats, vegetables and other foods prepared on the grill, they also help to catch food fragments from otherwise clogging your grill. Like other parts of your grill, you need to remove and clean the flavorizer bars regularly to keep dirt and grime from building up on the bars. Things You'll Need
- Stainless steel grill brush
- Newspaper
- Latex gloves
- Dishwashing detergent
- Water
- Scrub brush
- Soft cloth or rag

Remove the flavorizer bars from your gas or charcoal grill by lifting the panel or individual bars from the grill's main cooking surface.

Place three to four sheets of newspaper onto a flat surface--countertop, table or other flat surface. Place the flavorizer bars on the newspaper.

Use a stainless steel grill brush to scrape off any dirt and grime buildup. Wear latex gloves to keep your hands from getting dirty.

Fill a sink with ½ cup of dishwashing detergent and hot water.

Place the flavorizer bars in the soapy water. Let the bars soak until the remaining buildup on the bars is broken up.

Scrub the bars with the stainless steel grill brush until the flavorizer bars are dirt free.

Rinse the flavorizer bars in hot water. Dry the bars with a soft cloth or rag.

Tips & Warnings
If you don't use your grill often, clean your grill's flavorizer bars after the 10th use of your grill.
