The AVG firewall can be configured to allow router access

Both the home and business versions of the AVG Anti-Virus program also include a firewall option to prevent outside devices from gaining access to your computer. While a firewall is normally beneficial, as it keeps you safe from hacking attempts, it can also cause problems if you are using a router in your home network. If you have set up a home network with a router, you must properly configure the AVG software to let the router communicate with your computer.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you have the AVG program running in reduced mode you can access the configuration wizard by right-clicking the "Firewall" option and choosing "Automatic Configuration Wizard."

  • You can select multiple options in the Configuration Wizard. For example, if you have a wireless network and multiple computers, you would choose both "Computer on the move" and "Small Home or Office Network."
