How to Make a Cone Shape From Paper

Make cones easily with paper.

Whether you want to make a custom party hat, or you need a cone shape for another project you are working on, paper is the perfect choice for a material. Paper is easily shaped into a cone, and can be securely held with regular clear tape or glue. If you want to make a cone out of paper for your project, you will need to know how to shape the paper to make a cone and even out the open end so that it is flat across.

Things You'll Need

• Sheet of paper
• Clear tape
• Scissors

Instructions

1. Pull one corner of your sheet of paper down towards the center of the paper and roll it inward so that the paper makes the shape of a cone. It will likely have extra paper sticking out around the open end, but the bottom will be a cone.

2. Tape the cone in place along the side, where the paper overlaps, with clear tape. Alternatively, peel back the edge of the paper slightly and apply a bead of white glue to hold it in place.

3. Cut any excess paper that it sticking out from the open end of the cone with your scissors.

Tips & Warnings

• If making a party hat, staple a length of thin elastic on either side.
