How to Clean a Bathtub Drain With a Push Plug
Bathtub drains quickly become dirty and clogged as body oils, dirt, hair, shampoo, soap and other elements are rinsed down the drain. This creates not only a slow draining process, but also an odor at times as bacteria grows within the drain. To keep the drain clear, use a few household products and your bathtub push plug. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Bring 1/2 gallon of water to a boil, then pour it down the bathtub drain. This will loosen and rinse away a portion of the buildup.
-
2
Pour 1 cup baking soda down the drain, then 2 cups of white vinegar.

3
Place the push plug over the drain immediately. When the baking soda and vinegar come into contact with one another, a fizzing action will occur. Using the push plug to cover the drain is a very important step, as the plug will force the fizzing solution to work its way down the drain instead of up and out of the drain. This will clean and release any residue and also kill any bacteria in the drain.

4
Let the solution work for at least 30 minutes, or overnight when possible.

5
Bring 1 gallon of water to a boil and pour it down the drain to rinse away all of the loosened residue.
