These CDs are prone to scratching if left unprotected. If you want to restore a game CD that is heavily scratched, you can do so with some basic materials.

  • Toothpaste (nongel)

    • 1

      Run warm tap water and place the CD underneath. Gently scrub the surface of the CD with a mild dish detergent and rinse thoroughly. Allow the game CD to air-dry thoroughly.

      Rub a nongel toothpaste onto the surface of the game CD for five minutes, working from the center outward. Do not rub in a circular manner.

    • 3

      Thoroughly rinse off the toothpaste under warm tap water with a small amount of dish detergent and let the game CD air-dry completely.
