How to Do Unusual Hair Knots

How to Do Unusual Hair Knots thumbnail
Hair must be smoothed out before it can be styled into knots.

Hair knots are easy to create and can give hair a fun, unusual style. Although this style does not actually tie hair into knots, it gives that impression. Hair knots can be created to cover the whole head or just a small section of hair. The knots can be worn plain or can be dressed up with fun hair accessories. The look works best on hair that is smooth and untangled. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

      Wash and condition your hair.

    • 2

Blow dry your hair so that it's completely dry.

    • 3

Apply a thin layer of smoothing serum to the top of your hair.

    • 4

Part your hair down the middle. The part should extend from the middle of the forehead down to the nape of the neck.

    • 5

Take a 1-inch section of hair and comb it out. It does not matter where on the head you start.

    • 6

Spritz the 1-inch section of hair with water.

    • 7

Start at the scalp and begin twisting the hair. Continue to twist until the ends of the hair are twisted.

    • 8

Keep the twist in place with your hand and wrap the hair around itself in a circular motion.

    • 9

Secure the knot by tying a hair band around the base of the knot.

    • 10

Tuck any ends that are sticking out into the hair band.

    • 11

Repeat Steps 5 through 10 until the entire head is covered with knots.
