Instructions

    • 1

Load sheets of Kodak Ultra paper into the printer using the same tray that the standard printer paper is loaded into. Remove the standard paper from the tray and place no more than a dozen or so sheets of Kodak Ultra photo paper into the tray at a time. The photo paper is considerably thicker than standard printer paper, and overloading may interfere with the printer's function. If printing on Kodak Ultra paper smaller than standard 8.5-by-11-inch letter size, make sure you put the photo paper against the edge of the printer tray that is marked. Move the guide against the other side of the paper to hold the paper in place.

    • 2

Open the bypass tray if your printer has one. The bypass tray is almost always best for photo printing. Load the Kodak Ultra paper into the tray.

    • 3

Launch a digital image-editing program on your computer. Most computers come standard with at least one image-editor, like Apple's iPhoto. Pull down the "File" menu and select "Open," then browse for the photo that you want to print on your hard drive. Double-click the name of the file to open the photo in the software.

    • 4

Go to the "Print" feature in the image-editing software. On both Windows and Mac systems, the "Print" feature is accessed by going to the "File" menu and selecting "Print."

    • 5

Click on "Properties" or "Print Properties" to see further printing options. Choose "Photo Paper Plus Glossy" or "Photo Paper Plus Semi-Gloss" from the options listed next to "Paper Type." Select the tray that you are using from the "Paper Source" options if using a tray other than the main tray of the printer. Set the "Print Quality" to "High" and click "OK" to return to the main "Print" screen.

    • 6

Press the "OK" button on the main print screen to print the photo onto the Kodak Ultra paper. Depending upon the speed of your printer, this may take anywhere from less than a minute up to 5 minutes.

    • 7

Allow the photos to sit printed-side up in a cool, dry room without anything touching the ink for an hour before handling. Let a photo dry for at least 24 hours before placing it into a frame or an album; this will keep the ink from transferring onto the glass or plastic surface.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use a Kodak inkjet printer if possible. Photo paper and photo printers that are made by the same company are made to be compatible, with the paper type taking into account the ink that is used in the printer.
