How to Stop Chkdsk on XP Bootup
Chkdsk (Disk Check) is a Windows tool that scans your computer for hard disk errors when you start your computer. It checks volumes for errors related to bad sectors, cross linked files and lost clusters. The tool then attempts to repair the problems. The Chkdsk tool delays Windows launch and can be annoying especially if you do not have immediate need of it. Windows XP enables you to stop Chkdsk from launching at computer startup. However, you can still run the tool manually any time you want after starting your computer.
