Instructions

    • 1

Determine the placement of your upholstery buttons. Use the tape measure to measure the precise placement so the buttons are symmetrical and even on the cushion. Place a small mark with the fabric pen in the places where you will sew the buttons.

    • 2

Cut a 15-inch length of button twine and string one end of the twine through the eye on the back of the button. Pull the twine until the button is at the halfway point on the twine.

    • 3

Thread both ends of the button twine through the eye of the upholstery needle and insert the button needle through the upholstery cushion from the top at a mark you made in step one. Pull it through to the other side.

    • 4

Place another upholstery button onto the left button twine strand and tie a slipknot next to the button. Pull the slipknot to tighten the top button and the lower button through the upholstery cushion.

    • 5

Tie the button twine again in a regular knot and pull the twine as tight as you desire. Tie one more knot to make a double knot.

    • 6

Loop the left twine around the lower button and bring the two twine strands together again. Cut the excess twine off at the button and tuck the ends of the twine under the button.
