How to Clean a NEC Flat Screen Monitor

Flat screen monitors are delicate but easy to clean with the right materials.

NEC is a Japanese company that manufactures flat screen monitors. Flat screen monitors are much thinner and lighter than traditional computer monitors and are the preferred display choice. Flat screen displays are also prone to fingerprints and smudge marks with frequent use. Use a few items that can be purchased at most automotive and electronic stores to clean a NEC flat screen monitor.

Things You'll Need

• Microfiber cloth
• LCD screen cleaning fluid
• Distilled water

Instructions

1. Wipe the NEC flat screen monitor with a dry microfiber cloth to remove any dust. Wipe in straight lines to prevent further smudges on the screen.

2. Spray LCD screen cleaning fluid onto a microfiber cloth. You may also moisten a cloth with distilled water if you do not have access to LCD screen cleaning fluid. Never use fluids that are not specifically intended for LCD screens. Do not spray the cleaner directly on the screen--this may cause the liquid to seep behind the screen and cause permanent damage.

3. Wipe the moistened cloth across the screen in straight lines to remove any smudges.

4. Reapply the screen cleaner to the cloth and wipe the screen until all smudge marks and dirt are removed.

5. Wipe the screen with a dry microfiber cloth to remove remaining cleaner.
