How to Plan a Bridal Shower & Bachelorette Party
Bachelorette parties and bridal showers are very common celebrations in the United States. These parties are usually thrown by the maid of honor or the mother of the bride and are held in honor of the bride. Traditionally, bachelorette parties and bridal showers are held within six weeks prior to the wedding. Planning a bachelorette party or bridal shower is very easy, and should be started approximately eight weeks before the shower or party date.

1
Select a date for the shower or party to be held. Try to pick a date within a month and a half of the wedding, however, avoid picking a date too soon before the wedding. During the final days leading up to the wedding, the bride will likely be very busy with final preparations.
-
2
Choose a theme for the event, such as a bridal shower tea or a girl's night out bachelorette party. The theme of the event will help you choose the invitations and plan where the party will be held.

3
Decide on a location for the party or shower. For a bridal shower, you may consider throwing it in your home or at a restaurant. For a bachelorette party, you may choose a bar or nightclub with a private party room. Call local party venues to get an idea of their rates and make sure you book the venue several weeks in advance.
-
4
Write out the guest list. Decide if you want to invite all of the bride's closest female friends and family or limit the event to members of the bridal party.
-
5
Purchase or make the invitations for the party. The invitations should reflect the party theme. For example, a bridal shower tea could feature invitations shaped like tea cups. Send the invitations out two weeks before the event.
-
6
Decide on how everyone will be transported for the party. This is not as important for a bridal shower as the event usually stays in one place. For a bachelorette party, figure out if you want to rent a limo or a party bus and book it.
-
7
Plan the menu for the shower or party and purchase the food. Try to offer at least a few snacks and a dessert, such as chips and dip, a veggie tray, fruit salad and a sheet cake.
-
8
Write down the name of each guest as she RSVPs. It is important to know who will be attending the event.
-
9
Purchase the decorations and favors for the party, such as balloons and streamers. If you are hosting a bachelorette party, make sure you get a sash for the bride that says "bachelorette." If you will be hosting any games at the party, buy all of the necessary supplies. Remember that the decorations should also match the theme and formality of the event.
