How to Measure for Baseball Helmets
A baseball helmet will help protect a ball player from possible head injuries from stray baseballs when batting or catching. Measure the head of your ballplayer carefully to ensure a properly fitting helmet, and choose an appropriately sized helmet for the player to wear while playing.

1
Position the tape measure so it goes around the head immediately above both ears. As the tape measure goes around the forehead, position it so it passes just above the eyebrows.
-
2
Wrap the tape measure snugly around the head, ensuring the tape measure is level and straight around the entire head. Note the measurement.

The Batter's Box recommends an extra small helmet for head circumferences between 20 inches and 20.5 inches; a small helmet for head circumferences between 20.75 inches and 21.25 inches; a medium helmet for head circumferences between 21.5 inches and 22 inches; a large helmet for head circumferences between 22.25 inches and 22.75 inches; and an extra-large helmet for head circumferences between 23 inches and 23.5 inches.

Tips & Warnings
Hat sizes often correspond to helmet sizes. For example, if you wear an extra small hat, you would probably wear an extra small helmet. However, always measure the head before purchasing a helmet to ensure a proper fit.
