Instructions

  1. How to Clean Wet Latex Paint from Jeans

    • 1

Rinse the jeans immediately under, running water. According to ohioline.edu, you should use cool water. You can do this under a tub or sink faucet.

    • 2

Put the stopper in the sink and add a capful of heavy-duty detergent to the water. Let the jeans soak for 30 minutes.

    • 3

Remove the jeans from the sink or tub and launder in your washing machine, using cold water and detergent. Check the jeans after the first wash--if any paint remains, wash them again.

How to Clean Dried Latex Paint From Jeans

    • 4

Put on rubber gloves, as rubbing alcohol is drying to the skin. Place paper towels or disposable rags beneath the paint stain. For example, if the stain is on a jean leg, place the towels inside the leg. This keeps the paint from transferring to other areas of fabric as the paint liquefies.

    • 5

Pour rubbing alcohol over the stain. The alcohol will soften the paint. Use a plastic scraper to remove as much paint as you can from the fabric.

    • 6

Apply more rubbing alcohol and blot the stain with paper towels to get up more of the dissolved paint.

    • 7

Launder immediately in warm water, with heavy-duty detergent. Check the jeans when the cycle is through for any remaining paint. Run them through another wash if any paint remains.
