How to Get an Unlisted Business Phone Number

Running a business is hard enough without getting interrupted by those pesky telemarketing calls. If your business is one that is sustainable without being listed, getting your number unlisted will bring you a reprieve from those annoying sales calls.

Instructions

1. Call your telephone company. The telephone company houses the records submitted to the listing agencies, such as the White Pages, Yellow Pages and 411.

2. Write down the name of the representative you speak with. Also document the date and time of your call. Keep your documentation of your order and telephone call. In the event, your privacy is violated, contact the telephone company immediately.

3. Request a business phone line. While discussing the additional available options, advise the representative you wish to have an unlisted number.

Tips & Warnings

• There may be an additional monthly charge for an unlisted number. The charges varies per telephone company.

• According to ATT, even if the caller's number is unlisted, the number will be displayed on caller ID along with the date and time of the call.
